    The Air Jordan 3, the third generation basketball shoe in the Jordan series, made its debut in 1987 and rapidly gained fame for its distinctive crackle patterns. The 1988 Slam Dunk Contest held in Chicago remains etched in history as one of the most electrifying events ever witnessed, with past three-time dunk champions, including Wilkins, Webber, and Michael Jordan himself, gracing the stage. In a legendary climax, Jordan executed a free throw line dunk to secure the championship, an iconic moment forever etched in basketball history.
    In Tinker Hatfield's recollection, the vivid memories of that scene from 30 years ago remain clear. The Air Jordan 3, one of the most beloved Air Jordan models ever, set a new benchmark for style and technology within the Michael Jordan brand sneaker lineup. Much like the Air Jordan 2, the Air Jordan 3 harmoniously blends sophistication and style, with a distinct absence of a prominent Swoosh on the sides. Instead, it prominently features the Air logo on the back, alongside three transformative elements: a novel Jumpman logo on the tongue, a gray elephant skin-like print on the upper, and a visible Air unit in the heel. The price tag remains at the substantial $100, similar to the Air Jordan 2. However, the departure of both Peter Moore, the designer of the initial two Air Jordan silhouettes in 1987, and Rob Strasser, the vice president of marketing, to launch their cheap jordans own brands within the same week complicated matters, leading to production delays for the Air Jordan 3. Furthermore, Jordan's existing contract with the brand was due for renewal. Tinker Hatfield, an architect and former pole vaulter from the University of Oregon, was entrusted with the design task, following the successes of the Swoosh, Air Max 1 running shoe, and Air Trainer 1. These revolutionary designs laid the foundation for Hatfield's selection as the architect of the Air Jordan 3.
    Jordan showcased the Air Jordan 3 during the 1988 All-Star Weekend in Chicago, winning his second consecutive Slam Dunk Contest title with his signature foul dunk. He also sported a "Black Cement" pair during the actual All-Star Game. In front of an audience of 18,403 fans, Jordan dazzled his hometown crowd with a remarkable performance, tallying 40 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 4 blocks to secure the MVP honors, the sole instance Jordan achieved this distinction throughout the season.
